Bad Essen, Germany!

The town of Bad Essen is on the North German Plains, because of the transition of the low mountain range to the plains. The Wiehengebirge Range covers approximately the southern third of the town and reaches an altitude of 211m above sea level. The highest point of the Wiehengebirge Range is on the black Brink in Lintorf. The northern part of the town is flat, with an average altitude of 50m above sea level. The Hunte flows through the eastern part of Bad Essen northwards and crosses the Midland Canal in Wittlage.

Nice little town to stay a few days and
to make long walks along the countryside

City center!
We have stayed here some days a few years ago.

This was very relaxing!

La Roche-en-Ardenne, Belgium!

La Roche-en-Ardenne, where we were lost
our way to go to Durbuy. We had an exit missed!
Suddenly we were in La Roche. A busy touristic
town near the river Ourthe

La Roche-en-Ardenne is a municipality of Belgium. It lies in the country's Walloon Region and Luxembourg Province.
On 1 January 2007 the municipality, which covers 147.52 km², had 4,348 inhabitants, giving a population density of 29.5 inhabitants per km².
La Roche is believed to have first been settled in the Neolithic era. The Romans built a fort there following their conquest of Gaul and the Ardennes.

The town's medieval castle was in use between the 9th and 18th centuries.
Lying beside a bend in the River Ourthe, the small town of La Roche-en-Ardenne is one of the more popular tourist destinations in the Ardennes. Walking, kayaking, and mountain biking are among the outdoor pursuits available here. The municipality's other main economic activity is agriculture.

Brodeuses! A common thread!

The film won "Critics Week Grand Prize" and "SACD Screenwriting Award" at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. It is also nominated for "European Discovery of the Year" at the 2004 European Film Awards.

When Claire (played by Lola Naymark) learns that she is five months pregnant at the age of seventeen, she decides not to abort the baby and not to tell the man she had the child with (who seems to be married). Instead, she quits her current job at a local supermarket and goes to work as an assistant for Madame Mélikian (Ariane Ascaride), an embroiderer for haute couture designers. Mélikian has just lost her only son in a motorcycle accident. Claire shows her willingness in taking her duties, as well as taking over Mélikian's private order when she is treated in the hospital.

Very nice movie, interesting and
fascinating to see how all these
embroideries are made.
