Poffertjes!

 Description of the recipe:

A traditional Dutch delicacy.

Preparation of the recipe:
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the milk. In a separate bowl, combine the buckwheat flour, flour, eggs, yeast, sugar, salt and half the milk. Whisk smooth. Now add the remaining milk and beat again. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow to rest for an hour.
Melt butter in a frying pan. When it sizzles, add teaspoonfuls of the batter in circular movements to create the mini pancakes. Turn the poffertjes around as soon as the bottom has set, using two forks.
Serve Pancake Puffs with strawberries, whipped cream and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Ingredients for this recipe:
1 level tsp instant yeast

1 tbsp milk
1 cup buckwheat flour (100 g)
1 cup flour (100 g)
2 eggs
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt

Purple tulips at de Keukenhof Gardens! Lisse!

Purple tulips!

Where Keukenhof is situated now, was a hunting area in the 15th century. Herbs for the kitchen of the castle of Jacoba van Beieren were also collected here; hence the name Keukenhof.
The current park was a section of the sizeable estate of Slot Teylingen, with beautiful untamed bushes and dunes. After the decease of Jacoba van Beieren Keukenhof fell into the hands of rich merchant families. Baron and baroness Van Pallandt invited landscape architects J.D. and L.P. Zocher, designers of the Amsterdam Vondelpark, to make a design for the garden around the castle. This design, in the English landscape style, has always been the basis of Keukenhof.
At the moment the estate belongs to a Foundation. On the initiative of the Lisse mayor of that time and a number of leading flower bulb growers and exporters, an open air flower exhibition was organised here for the first time in 1949. This expanded to an annually recurring event that has always drawn great numbers of visitors from all over the world. This is how Keukenhof became the park that we now know.

Oud-Loosdrecht! Loodsdrechtse Plassen!

This area between the Vecht and Utrecht Ridge was created by peat. Ditches and legakkers here ever had to win and drying of peat. Some legakkers have been swept away by strong winds and waves. This led to large and small lakes. In some lakes is naturally pure water seepage to the surface. This nutrient-poor calcareous water nourishes rare aquatic plants. The Vechtplassen are an important link in the ecological network, the lifeline of contiguous Dutch natural area.

Stompwijk Drie molens! Three mills at Stompwijk!

Winter!

Summer!
Drie molens bij Stompwijk is een heerlijke plek om even te ontspannen, te wandelen, iets te drinken of zelf een kano te huren en een stukje te varen.
Three mills near Stompwijk is a lovely place to relax, to walk, to drink something in the little restaurant or you can hire a canoe to sail.
Ice fun!

Wateringen, Molen van Wateringen! Mill, Wateringen!

A mill called 'Windlust', Wateringen!

The flour mill was established in 1869,
replacing an earlier wipkorenmill at the
same place, established in 1326.
In 1930 the wind power was turned off
and the mill felt into disrepair.
In 1969 the mill was purchased by
"Friends of the Water Mill". On May 1, 1972
the restoration was completed and the
mill was back into use, with only one
pair of stones.
Below the mill is a store located, where
flour of the mill is sold.

Delft Blue Mill

Most of these items are for sale in Delft souvenir stores, but the Delft Blue wall plates, as well as this Delft Blue mill can also be found in Dutch houses nowadays, but the clogs are mostly worn by farmers.
